Budget Canvas allows everyday citizens tell the government exactly how they would prioritize the budget. And it lets Budget allocators and Policy makers clearly see if their allocations and policies are connected to the real wishes of their constituents.
By manipulating a series of sliders in a mobile app or web interface, a user can set their own budget priorities. They can clearly express how important Education, Healthcare or Public Safety areas of the budget are to them.
And once they are done, because the application is tied in with publicly available budgetary and financial government data, they can see graphical representations of how their choices would affect the actual budget and how their decisions would impact the economy and society.
On the other end of the spectrum, the app can then produce aggregate data so policy makers and budget allocators can see the priorities and values of demographic areas at Federal, State, Regional and Local levels.
