Explor'd

Unlock the stories from iconic locations around you. Get Explor’d!

Have you ever wanted your own personal tour guide?
Well now you can have one with the tap of a finger, with Explor’d, the interactive audio tour guide.
Explor’d offers a walk throughout history, submerging you in the past and present of notable locations around South Australia, highlighting sites of historical and natural significance.

Once the app is downloaded, users will receive notifications when they come within a 50 meter range of a local historical landmark.
After the notification is activated, users see a snapshot of the landmark, and choose the option of an audio or visual tour.
Throughout the tour, users will listen to engaging facts and stories about the location. They will also have the option to view historical photographs of the area while listening to the tour.

Once the tour has come to an end, users will receive an ‘Explor’d’ badge, marking off that location as completed, and the option to share with their friends through social media channels.

The map feature will allow users to see other tours in their area, but will be unable to listen to the audio tours of nearby locations until within range.

Audio features can only be accessed within a 50 meter range, ensuring an active rewards system.

To make the project possible, our team has used many key data sets, including, SA Memory, Oral Histories, SA History Hub, SA Heritage Places & SA Photographs and many more to bring this much information to the user.

In order to reach its full potential, this app will also use other public data sources to enrich the experience of the user.

This app will increase life-long learning and promote social inclusion across the community, as well as be useful for school groups.

Explor’d will advance the tourism industry in South Australia, as well as nationally and internationally bringing economic and social benefits.
It will help local councils and the State Government reach cultural and heritage plan goals, and strategic plan targets.
Potential expansions could include important nautical sites and places of Aboriginal significance, among many other possibilities.
Thanks for viewing our project!
