Water flow and rainfall have a measurable impact on the water quality of local swimming areas. Currently, communication to the public is limited to signage and council recommendations, but these are not easily accessible or understood by the public at large.
We propose the development of an interface that uses real-time water flow, storm drainage and rain fall data to indicate safe swimming zones for the public - a 'no, flow, go' application available on web and as a downloadable app.
Using a simple colour coded system to highlight safe swimming conditions, with an optional dropdown for more details (including rainfall amount, flow data and a 'no swim' timeline) this interface will communicate quick and efficient information to the public.
