We aim to make New Zealand democracy more transparent. Transcripts of parliamentary speeches (known as Hansard) are available at parliament.nz, but it we've demonstrated a number of improvements:
- machine-readable list of MPs in international Popolo format
- scrape Hansard HTML and transform to Akoma Ntoso XML
- Run a MySociety SayIt instance to present speeches and make them searchable
- expose an API for speakers and speeches http://openvoices.space/api/v0.1/
- search provided by powerful Elastic Search
