A Stitch In Time

Melbourne is a city of makers with a history of responding creatively to challenging changes in our urban landscape.  Through beautification of the city's security bollards, "A Stitch In Time" marries the creative spirit of Melbourne with real data about its people, time and place.

Inspired by a chance meeting one night with Bernard the bollard. GovHackers Hala and Matt set out to transform him beyond his purpose. A sewn cover provides a 24 hour clock showing  a typical day of pedestrian data from Bernard's perspective, allowing Melbournians to see the patterns they are making in real time.

A regrettable necessity of our times (sorry Bernard!) is now transformed into an opportunity for community engagement with data about the city in which we live .
